Our goal is for these modules to be a starting point rather than a final destination. We hope you will consider joining your local Trauma-Informed Community Network or attending additional trainings related to trauma & resilience. We also hope that you will share these videos widely so we can ensure that every Virginian has access to this information!
Virginia’s Trauma-Informed Community Networks (VA TICNs) are a multi-sector coalition of networks throughout the state focused on building resilience and preventing and mitigating the impact of trauma in their communities and creating a more trauma-informed and resilient culture in Virginia. VA TICNs work together with state partners to change practices, policies, and systems within their regions and at the state level. Greater Richmond SCAN convenes bi-monthly meetings of the VA TICNs, provides support and technical assistance to the TICNs, and distributes a bi-weekly eNote with resources and events. SCAN’s Community Programs staff provide expert training and consultation to organizations throughout the Greater Richmond region and across the state of Virginia. These partnerships include systems such as education, healthcare, child welfare, behavioral health, immigration, and juvenile justice. Additionally, Community Programs offers free public trainings throughout the year that are attended by both local and national audiences. Training topics include prevention, trauma-informed practice, professional/personal wellness, and building resilience.
